BRUSH FIRE IN MAYER, ALONG HIGH WAY 69 NEAR HOMES

Mayer Fire crews responded on a two acre wildfire on the Southbound side of Highway 69 at mile marker 273 at just after noon. The fire came close to structures at the Foothills Ranch but crews were able to contain it before any structural damage occurred. Crews were on the scene for over 2 hours mopping up hot spots.

Mayer Fire units responded on a motorcycle down just north of Mayer on Highway 69 at Findley Rd. just after 11:00 a.m. this morning. Crews found an adult male and a 12 year old boy with serious injuries. The patients were treated and the boy was flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital and the man was flown to Good Samaritan Hospital. The motorcycle apparently suffered a blown rear tire which caused the accident. Southbound 69 was closed for about 20minutes while the medical helicptoers were on the scene.

MOTORCYCLE DOWN INJURES TWO ON HIGHWAY 69 ON JANUARY 31 2012

FIREFIGHTERS HONOR 343 FALLEN FDNY MEMBERS

The Mayer Fire Department will be wearing special uniform shirts this week in honor of the 343 New York Firefighters who gave their lives on 9-11-2011.

"This was a great way for us to say that we have not and will not forget them and the sacrifice they made" said Mayer Fire Chief Glenn Brown. 


 

MAYER IAFF MEMBERS RAISE MONEY FOR MDA IN CORDES LAKES

Mayer Fire personnel and their families spent the holiday weekend at locations in Mayer and Cordes Junction collecting for the MDA Fill the Boot Campaign sponsored by the International Association of Firefighters. "Mayer personnel gathered over $5,100, and thank you to everyone that helped us reach and surpass our goal" stated Tom Haney, a Captain for the Mayer Fire Department and the President of the United Yavapai Firefighters Association Local 3066.

MAYER FIRE'S NEWEST CAPTAIN BADGE PINNING CEREMONY

Mayer Fire's newest Captain, Ryan Trask, had his new badge officially pinned on him by his fiance Amy McCray at last night's fire board meeting.

Ryan has been with Mayer Fire for over 6 years. He is a Paramedic and is in charge of the departments fleet services and is mentoring to be the Emergency Medical Services coordinator.
